Born in Louisiana, the american tenor came to national attention as a winner of the Metropolitan National Council Auditions in 1991. Graduated of the Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artists Development Program, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1992 as the Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer. Since then, he has performed regularly on the New York scene, where he has participated in the world creation of The First Emperor (Tan Dun), Jianli’s part, in 2006. In 1995, he made his debut in La Scala in Milan as Tamino/ Die Zauberflöte under the direction of Riccardo Muti. He then returned to La Scala for the role of Renaud/Armide and Nemorino/L'Elisir d'amore. The artist performs on the biggest stages and festivals around the world: Opéra National de Paris, Covent Garden of London, Staatsoper of Vienna, Deutsche Oper of Berlin, Opéra National du Rhin, Oper Frankfurt, Lyric Opera Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Teatro Real of Madrid, Salzbourg Festival, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence... He has already been heard in Roméo et Juliette, La Veuve joyeuse, Cosí fan tutte, The Rake’s Progress, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Don Giovanni, Les Pêcheurs de perles, La Grande duchesse de Gérolstein, Faust, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Un Ballo in Maschera, Die Zauberflöte, etc. He regularly gives concerts with the greatest symphony orchestras and recitals. Among his projects, we can quote the title role in Faust at the New Orleans Opera. This is the first time that the artist performs on our stage.
