Maestro Speranza Scappucci took the decision several weeks ago not to renew her mandate as Music Director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, which runs until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

The number of commitments postponed in the coming seasons would not allow her to free up the necessary time to properly assume the function of Music Director: this is why Maestro Scappucci had to decline the proposal made to her by the General and Artistic Director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège Stefano Pace to renew her mandate.

Maestro Scappucci and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège remain linked: after five successful years as Music Director, Maestro Scappucci will return as Guest Conductor in the coming seasons, starting with the 2022-2023 season, for an important new production to be announced at the season launch.
