A perfect exponent of bel canto

Hailed by the New-York Times as one of the leading sopranos of her generation, Jessica Pratt possesses outstanding poise and agility in the art of bel canto. British by birth, she spent her childhood in Australia where she learned the trumpet for ten years before devoting herself exclusively to singing. Turning towards Europe after having won the Australian Singing Competition, she then continued her studies in Rome under the supervision of Renata Scotto.

A brilliant career

In 2007, her career took off following a sublime Lucia di Lammermoor which opened the doors of the grand theatres for her. The whole world praised her Lucia as one of the best ever. Jessica Pratt was sought by all the major conductors and performed with Kent Nagano, Sir Colin Davis, Christian Thielemann, Carlo Rizzi, etc., to resounding success, publicised enthusiastically by the press. A specialist in the Italian romantic repertoire, she was overwhelming in a legendary performance of La Traviata in Melbourne in 2014. Lucia, Amina, Violetta, Gilda, Mimi and many others no longer hold any secrets for her.

For her first visit to Liège, she will be accompanied by the tenor Alessandro Liberatore, well known on our stage since his praiseworthy performance in Massenet’s Manon in 2012, in which he played the Chevalier Des Grieux
