Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez, an undisputed master of bel canto, remains loyal to the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège where he has performed triumphantly during several much-appreciated recitals. On the programme for this new event are Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini or also Massenet and Lehar, meaning it will be simply outstanding!
This exceptional singer, one of the most appealing of his generation, is also a socially conscious artist who created, in 2011, his own foundation called “Sinfonía por el Peru”, a socially inclusive project that aims to encourage personal and artistic development among under-privileged children and young people in his country. He is also a UNESCO goodwill ambassador.
Following his teenage years which were marked by pop, rock and folk music, Juan Diego Flórez trained at the Peruvian national music academy. He then joined the national choir, before continuing his musical development at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. It was in 1996, at the age of only 23 years, that he met with his first success playing the role of Corradino in Matilde di Shabran at the prestigious Pesaro Festival. Since then, he has roamed the planet, inspiring enthusiasm in the world’s most demanding concert halls thanks to his vocal and acting qualities. He is one of the world’s most sought-after experts of bel canto.
