Since its creation in 1987, the Chœur de Chambre de Namur choir has been committed to defending the musical heritage of its region of origin (Lassus, Arcadelt, Rogier, Du Mont, Gossec, Grétry, etc.) while tackling the great works of the choral repertoire, through a wide selection ranging from the Middle Ages to contemporary music. It has also made many recordings and performs at many renowned festivals, as well as collaborating with conductors such as Peter Phillips, Christophe Rousset, Jean- Christophe Spinosi, Alexis Kossenko, Richard Egarr and Julien Chauvin among others. Since 2010, its Artistic Director is the Argentinean conductor Leonardo García Alarcon, with which the choir has performed on many occasions in Europe and South America.

The Chœur de Chambre de Namur has performed twice at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège: in 2017 for Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, conducted by Guy Van Waas, as well as in October of the same year for a performance of Orfeo, conducted by Leonardo García Alarcon with the Cappella Mediterranea musical ensemble.

This season, the Choeur de Chambre de Namur will join the choir of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège for an exceptional performance of Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, conducted by the legendary Zubin Mehta.
