The Opera starts as young as 6 months, did you know? But it’s also a host of outing ideas for the whole family. Are you looking for a show specifically designed for young audiences, but that also entertains adults? A fun and educational activity for your child? A cultural activity to experience together? Make your choice and set out for an original outing!

Our young public performances are specially tailored in their duration (about an hour) and themes to gently or spectacularly introduce young ears to the world of Opera. Music, singing, lights, sets, costumes—an opera is colorful, lively, and full of emotion. Children are particularly receptive to this and come without preconceptions or prejudices. These performances often encourage audience participation through rhythms, movements, or singing. Everything is designed to make you want to prepare and fully enjoy the show: educational booklets, learning materials, friendly rehearsals before the show, and more.

It’s a lot of fun and a great way to create memorable moments, like singing loudly on the way to school!

Le Château enchanté La belle et franche aventure de Petit-Guillaume

And why not a grand opera? Children under 14 years of age get a free seat next to a paying adult at opera shows. For their first experience, parents can pick a show they know will interest their child… We advise booking early, as soon as reservations open, usually in June.

To prepare for your outing, feel free to check our online educational sheets, Les Antisèches de l’Opéra (The Opera Cheat Sheets), and view our photo albums of rehearsals or our video capsules presenting the shows!

As for activities, there are many to try together to discover the fantastic treasure trove of our set and costume workshops, or to explore the backstage of our majestic theater. And it’s free!

There are other activities, organized by age group, where children can meet others their age. Some are even specially reserved for parent-baby bonding moments.

Finally, feel free to discover and download from our website all our activities related to the Opera (games, crafts, coloring, mazes, videos of fun tours here and there…). And if your children are older, point them to the page reserved for them!
