« Polar dust! What is it? […] The strongest magic in all the firmament… » SCENE 10, THE TOYS
CHRISTMAS MAGIC
OTHERNESS
TOYS
Libretto by Fabio Ceresa, adapted from the Italian by Véronique Tollet.
Freely inspired from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Steadfast Tin Soldier
On a wintry evening, with snowflakes dancing in the sky, the enchanted castle is bathed in the festive aura of Christmas and all the toys come to life. Among them is a little tin soldier with only one leg. He immediately falls for the charms of an adorable ballerina, who lives in a music box, and also stands on one leg. But why is the prima ballerina silent? The two toys end up in the fire in the swirling smoke and ashes. Quick, call the Fairy! With her moon dust, she will be able to bring them back to life….
A captivating story of love and hope, a magical performance in which dance and music combine to conjure up a world of poetry and wonder. The endearing characters of the enchanted castle will be accompanied by the Maîtrise/Children’s Choir as we head into the festive season. A magical moment of discovery of otherness and self-acceptance.
