Ildebrando D’Arcangelo

SONG AND DRAMA

Italian bass Ildebrando D’Arcangelo is one of the major stars on the international stage with a broad repertoire stretching from baroque to the works of Puccini.

He is equally at ease with Italian romantic bel canto as with French opera and has performed on the most prestigious stages. Consequently, he has collaborated with major names such as Claudio Abbado, Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Muti, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Riccardo Chailly and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. His very lengthy discography provides a superb overview of the diversity of his vocal qualities.

He is especially fond of playing Verdi’s roles, with rightful and deep expressiveness, and on this occasion will be regaling us with a superb array of the Giuseppe Verdi’s greatest arias. He will complete this programme by taking on the costumes of great devilish characters in opera, such as his sarcastic Mephistopheles from Faust in January 2019.
