LIKE A MODERN-DAY FAIRY TALE…

The career of Pretty Yende resembles a modern-day fairy tale. In record time, the soprano has scaled the heights of lyrical art. Her diamond-like voice, her vocal skills and her irresistible charm have made her one of today’s most brilliant opera singers, acclaimed on both opera stages throughout the world and concert halls for recitals.

 WHERE IT ALL STARTED…

Pretty Yende’s first encounter with opera was when she heard the flower duet from Lakmé for the first time in an advert. Since this revelation, her passion for music has not stopped stimulating her visceral need to sing. Raised in a small town in South Africa, the soprano made a remarkable debut in Riga playing the role of Micaëla in Carmen. After wining two prestigious prizes at the Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna she met with increasing success and graduated from the academy for young artists at La Scala in Milan. Her victory in the Operalia Plácido Domingo competition (in 2011) opened the doors for her to the world’s biggest stages on which she has experienced ongoing success right up to the present day.
