In some operas, the staging requires the participation of extras. Thus, for several years now, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie- Liège and the CEJOLI day centre have been working together to enable adults with disabilities to take part in certain productions. This project promotes the development and skills of the CEJOLI actors and contributes to their full integration.
Candidates take an audition involving stage participation. The people selected by the director then join the artistic team of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège and take part, from the beginning, in all rehearsals: staging in costumes and dress rehearsals. Thereafter, they take part in all the performances. This season, the CEJOLI extras will be featured in several productions.
Founded in 1977, the Centre de Jour Liégeois is a day centre for adults with disabilities. The goal of the CEJOLI is to accompany these people in a framework of goodwill and well-being by offering them a wide choice of activities as well as a pleasant place to stay adapted to their needs.
